Education Volunteers of the Year, 2002

John and Agnes Keenan were stationed in Aklavik and Fort Good Hope. Malcom and Coral Earney volunteered in Fort Providence and Arviat.

Volunteer of the Year, 1999

Hans-Peter(H.P.) Marshall Peter was brought up to Old Crow, in the Yukon Territory, by Frontiers Foundation, from Seattle, Washington, to teach the Bridging Program. This was set for students in the community, who either did not go to high school in the larger town of Whitehorse, or who had dropped out.

Fred Taylor
Volunteer of the Year, 1999

Fred is in his fifties and has been living in Batchawana Bay, Ontario, for the last 22 years. He is a very private person. Everybody knows him, but for the most part, he is still an enigma. Fred worked for most of his years in Batchawana Bay for the Ontario Department of Highways. His former boss speaks very highly of him. After the privatization of highway maintenance, Fred worked with a new boss, Gordy Chapman, another big fan.

Jim Taggart
Volunteer of the Year, 1998

Jim Taggart of Scotland was praised by the Old Crow School Board for inspiring teen dropouts to return to school in 1998. He is the other 1998 Volunteer of the Year.

Liss Larson, a truly remarkable grandfather who can build, wire or fix anything...

Kathy Selkirk
Volunteer of the Year, 1997, 1998

Kath, who is from England, worked at Fort Smith, with students at the Western Arctic Leadership Program. This is a residence for high school students from the Western Arctic who have shown leadership ability. She also spent six months at Inuvik in the Samuel Hearne School.

Etain O'Carroll
Volunteer of the Year, 1997

Etain, who is from Ireland, is the kind of person who thrives on challenge. She spent a year and a half in Cambridge Bay, and later worked in Old Crow, Yukon, which is one of the remotest communities in Canada, where she was responsible for the adult education program.

Lylas Polson
Volunteer of the Year 1996

Lylas Polson, who worked as a construction supervisor at Wahgoshig, Ontario, and Notre Dame du Nord, Quebec.
