On October 24, 2007 while Frontiers Foundation Executive Director Marco A. Guzman was attending the CIDA Voluntary Sector Fund training in Toronto organized by the Ontario Council for International Cooperation (OCIC), he made the connection with Genevieve Boucher who supported our new proposal re Haiti to the attention of CIDA’s Americas Branch.
According to Canadian International Development Agency, Haiti is the largest recipient of Canadian long-term development assistance in the Americas and the second largest in the world. One of the Haitian government priorities focuses on access to basic health and education and Frontiers Foundation responds to this priority through this proposal .
Finally, on November 10, 2008, CIDA’s Voluntary Sector Projects and Education Fund approved $309,578 for our fourth proposal submitted August 27, 2007 and subsequently fine tuned to satisfaction for all parties. Our St. Michel de L’Attalaye partner ACCORD has started building the new primary school at last, and also on the same property the base facility for the HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and treatment program. Frontiers Foundation will be contributing 25 % of the project total cost over $90,000.
